| Description: | The only artist in the world to be trained completely by her father, legendary sitar virtuoso and composer, Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar has been playing the sitar since she was nine. Her music is joyously spiritual, filled with energy and reverence for tradition, but propelling the sound of Indian sitar into the new millennium. With her new album, Rise, Shankar has emerged from the shadows of her famed father and journeyed beyond the musical traditions of India to create her own sound full of twists and turns of mood that never fails to enchant. |
