Description: In the forthcoming election, voters will make a fateful choice between two very different world views: the McCain view that the United States faces a serious military threat in the form of “a dangerous, relentless enemy in the War against Islamist Extremists”, and the Democratic position that the United States should rely less on military force and more on its diplomatic and economic resources.

The social sciences have valuable insights to contribute to advancing the public’s learning curve on this compelling public issue.

Daniel Yankelovich is a noted social researcher and public opinion analyst. He is Chairman of three organizations -- the Public Agenda, a not for profit public education think tank, DYG Inc., a social and marketing research firm, and Viewpoint Learning, Inc., a La Jolla based organization that specializes in dialogues on public policy issues. Dr. Yankelovich is the author of ten books, including Coming to Public Judgment, New Rules, and The Magic of Dialogue.

The Supper Club is open to the public. The $65 fee covers parking, dinner and the presentation. For reservations or more information, please contact Chris Hillis at (858) 822-6694 or by email at chillis@ucsd.edu
