| Description: | Can the wild swings in oil process be rationally explained? UCSD economics professor James Hamilton has been following oil markets for the last 30 years, and will offer his thoughts about the latest developments in world oil markets. Professor Hamilton will discuss the role of OPEC, China, oil speculators, and peak oil, and offer his perspective on current U.S. policy proposals and options.

James Hamilton is an expert in the fields of time series and energy economics. Energy prices are an area of particular interest to him. From his early work on oil's impact on the macroeconomy to his recent work on oil shocks, the role of energy prices on the business cycle is a continuing theme in his work. |
