All campus members are invited to join in the 20th Annual César E. Chávez Celebration Kickoff and Scholarship Awards on Thursday, Apr. 8. This free, virtual event will kick off a month-long celebration focusing on the theme, “50 years of the Chicano Movement: The Legacy and Struggle.”
The keynote speaker for the event will be actor, comedian and activist Cheech Marin. Attendees will learn about Marin’s collection of Chicano art, his activism, the world of comedy and film, as well as hear about the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry.
The event will recognize community and alumni award recipients who further Chávez’s ideals in their communities and on campus. Live music will be provided by DJ Xavier The X-Man, radio DJ on local station Magic 92.5 and host of his popular syndicated Sunday Night Oldies show.
