Ghiselli describes how Chinese presence grew in unstable regions such as the Middle East and North Africa, analyzes how Chinese policy elites understand the protection of the interests overseas, and discuss how the Chinese government's approach to this problem evolved over time, leading to the creation of new institutions and launch of new policy initiatives. The talk will be moderated by Victor Shih.
