Today, trade with China is more consequential than ever before and China’s economic diplomacy over the last four years has changed the economic architecture of Asia. Craig Allen, president of the US-China Business Council will evaluate the impact of the Trump Administration’s trade conflict with China on American exports, employment and productivity.
Looking forward, Allen discusses how to maximize the benefits and minimize the costs of an effective trade policy toward China while advancing America’s national security agenda. He will examine the difficult trade-offs that the Biden Administration faces as it evaluates which economic policy toward China will maximize employment in the U.S. over the short, medium and longer terms. The talk will be moderated by Susan Shirk.
