On Thursday, March 11, 2021, UC San Diego's Urban Studies and Planning Department will VIRTUALLY host the 31st Annual URBAN EXPO. A self-guided open house of student research projects begins at 9:00 AM via usp.ucsd.edu. At 5PM the department will hold a formal program for students, faculty, alumni, community partners, family, and friends. Student awards for Academic Distinction, Meritorious Community Service and others will be announced. Please RSVP for the ceremony.
Graduating Urban Studies and Planning majors will present senior research projects that they completed while serving as interns with public agencies, private firms, nonprofit organizations and various departments on campus. Graduating Real Estate and Development majors will present capstone group research projects that focus on development and financing proposals for a multifamily housing complex in University Heights. The students’ research projects include posters, StoryMaps, and video presentations, and they cover topics such as real estate development, architecture, urban design, community economic development, environmental planning, housing, infrastructure, public health, and transportation.
The URBAN EXPO is a celebration of creative, civically-engaged student research focused on San Diego and its environs. Please join us Thursday, March 11.
