This event will bring together educators from UC San Diego and the San Diego Community College District to share with current students how they actively keep social justice at the forefront of the development and design of their teaching curriculum. Higher education institutions have a unique responsibility to foster environments that are inclusive, equitable, and reflective of a diverse student body.
Throughout the event, participants will engage in an insightful and interactive conversation with teaching faculty who actively work to maintain a spirit of social justice in the classroom. Topics may include:
Curriculum Design for Social Justice
Pedagogical Strategies for Equity
Creating Inclusive Classroom Environments
The Role of Educators in Social Justice
Measuring Success and Impact
By the end of this event, attendees will have a toolkit of ideas, resources, and strategies to consider for their future teaching careers, enabling them to create more inclusive curricula and foster a teaching environment that prepares students to engage with and challenge social injustices in their communities and careers.
