Afro-Caribbean Dance & Drumming Workshop w/Master Percussionist Gene Perry
The Afro-Caribbean Dance and Drumming Workshop opens with a discussion of a variety of African and Caribbean dance forms and styles demonstrated on video. Dance and drumming rhythms are then taught and practiced in the workshop, followed by a closing session of freestyle African dance. Musical instruments are available to the audience, and discussion and practice are encouraged. African Studies students lead the dance and drumming demonstrations under the direction of Master Percussionist Gene Perry.
