AlleysInAction! Community Pop-up in Normal Heights Alley

AlleysInAction! Community Pop-up in Normal Heights Alley

AlleysInAction! how to create clean, green, and healthy public spaces for our environment, our community, and our city. This effort is led by faculty member Sue Peerson, FAICP in the UC San Diego Department of Urban Studies and Planning. AlleysInAction! is Peerson’s socially impactful research and community engagement project, working with undergraduate students in her Advanced Urban Design course to breathe new life into our alleys turning them into vibrant public spaces. In partnership with the Adams Avenue Business Association and AARP California, Peerson and UC San Diego undergraduate students are working with an arts education non-profit, ArtFORM, and local elementary school children to bring “ART IN THE ALLEY.” Other partners include the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Climate & Health. Through placemaking and age-friendly design this Pop-Up will be a demonstration that serves as a model for transforming other San Diego alleyways! AARP is the lead sponsor and handling registration before and during the event. See the link below:
