Jul 13, 2021–Jul 13, 2021 from 4:30pm–5:30pm
Traditional Japanese architecture and design emerged from a sophisticated environmental sensibility necessitated by scarcity of resources and reinforced by ethical values carefully nurtured over centuries. This approach to environmental design displays a deep understanding of how disparate aspects such as forests, watersheds, agriculture, buildings, energy, and waste can be approached as integrated wholes, and led to the minimal aesthetic and constructional ingenuity now prized by both Japanese and audiences worldwide. Join Azby Brown for insight into what this approach entails and lessons we can apply to contemporary environmental and architectural design problems.
Speakers:
• Azby Brown, Author, Designer, Lead Researcher for Safecast
