Jul 7, 2021–Aug 11, 2021 from 4:00pm–7:00pm
Today, project management has been adopted by all industry sectors in nearly all countries, reaching approximately 2.6 million professionals worldwide. This workshop, developed by Yves Theriault, Program Manager, Education and Outreach at the Qualcomm Institute, is meant to highlight the differences between industrial and academic environments and illustrate how program and project management can become key performance drivers in academia.
Over the course of the workshop, participants will discuss how influencing environmental factors and organizational process assets can be crucial to solving convergent scientific and technological problems. The workshop will also extend convergence of science and technology to societal problems and associated translational programs. Participants will also brainstorm and discuss how intra- and inter-departmental knowledge management strategies can improve convergence research and education across their institutions. This activity will benefit every stakeholder performing in an academic organization, from undergraduate and graduate students to postdoctoral researchers, principal investigators, and departmental directors.
“Best Practices in Innovation Management for the Academic Environment” is intended for a broad audience, and we hope to enroll students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and departmental directors performing in an academic environment. Furthermore, the workshop is designed to provide new knowledge in addition to serving as a template through which participants with diverse backgrounds and experience levels will synergize their learning outcomes.
