About this Event
Free EventDeveloping and translating new therapies for prostate cancer using patient-derived models
Dr. Jamieson is an UCSD Associate Professor of Urology and member of the Moores Cancer Center. She is director of the prostate cancer basic and translational research laboratory on the 4thfloor of MCC. Dr. Jamieson’s research is focused on metastatic prostate cancer as well as invasive urothelial and bladder cancers. Dr. Jamieson’s research goal is to develop new molecularly targeted therapies and immunotherapies to eradicate these lethal diseases. Her approach is to use patient specimens to generate new pre-clinical xenograft and organoid models to perform pre-clinical studies to test novel treatments as well as to advance understanding of disease mechanisms of resistance. Dr. Jamieson received a BSc with honors at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, BC, Canada, PhD in Molecular Immunology at Brandeis University, Waltham, MA. She did her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) on the interaction of steroid hormones, the immune system, and lymphoid cancers. She was Assistant Professor at the Univ. of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Departments of Human Genetics and Urology. She is now Associate Professor in the Department of Urology at the Univ. of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine and member of the UCSD Moores Cancer Center (MCC). Dr. Jamieson is co-Director of the MCC Immune-Oncology Program, committee member on MCC Solid Tumor Therapeutics Program, and GU oncology liaison on the MCC Community Outreach and Engagement committee. Dr. Jamieson has served on multiple scientific review panels for the Department of Defense CDMRP PCRP grants, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Curebound. Dr. Jamieson is currently PI of a DOD PCRP Impact Award, Co-I on DOD Health Disparities Award, Co-PI on three Padres Pedal the Cause Translational Research/Clinical trials grants and PI on a Curebound Discovery research grant. Dr. Jamieson is the translational scientist on four clinical trials including the CirmD trial for metastatic CR Prostate Cancer.
Dr. Jamieson is the Immediate Past-President of the Society for Basic Urological Research (SBUR)where she has served as the Secretary, Vice President in 2024, and SBUR President in 2025.
