Center on Gender Equity and Health Brownbag Series: Join our monthly brownbag seminar. It’s open to everyone who is interested in the issue and there are FREE cookies and coffee! Jasmine Uysal, MPH, is the Research Project Coordinator for Addressing Reproductive Coercion in Health Settings (ARCHES) Kenya at the Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH) at UC San Diego. ARCHES is a brief intervention delivered within routine family planning counseling designed to provide education, targeted-support, and empowerment to women and girls facing coercion or violence. In two U.S. NIH-funded cluster randomized controlled trials, a single exposure to ARCHES significantly reduced pregnancy coercion and increased women’s self-efficacy to use contraceptives despite partner-related barriers. ARCHES Kenya is the first adaptation of this intervention to the low and middle income country setting and preliminary results will be presented.
