Join us on July 27th at 4pm for a talk by Emily Johnston, PhD, Associate Director of the Dimensions of Culture Writing Program, entitled: "Listening to the Text: A Rhetorical Beginning for First-Year Student-Writers." Presented by the Compassion Interest Group at the Sanford Insitute for Empathy & Compassion, this talk will introduce "listening to the text" as a tool for writerly invention.

The Compassion Interest Group is a monthly meeting that features presentations by scholars interested in empathy and compassion-related research projects. CIG’s mission is to build community around compassion research to raise awareness and inspire collaborations across disciplines. The meetings are an informal space to present research in progress. Anyone in the UC San Diego community is welcome to join.
