May 7, 2018–May 7, 2018 from 12:30pm–2:00pm
Join us as Dr. Brad Roberts, director of the Center for Global Security Research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, discusses how the 2018 NPR reflects both continuity and change. In recent decades, each new President, early in his first term, has conducted a wide-ranging review of U.S. nuclear policies, posture and programs. In a joint article featuring Roberts, “the consensus was that the 2018 Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) recently issued by Secretary of Defense Mattis to be clearly in the mainstream of U.S. nuclear policy as it has evolved through nearly eight decades of the nuclear age.” This talk is part of the National Security Policy Speaker Series. This event is sponsored by GPS’s Korea-Pacific Program and UC San Diego’s Political Science Department’s Center for Peace and Security Studies (cPass).
