Creating a Rewarding Staff Environment Friday, November 8, 2019 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Training Center North (TCN; Plaza Level, Torrey Pines Center-North (TPC-N)) Instructor: Russ King Fee: free Keyword: rewardingenv This class is for managers, supervisors and work leaders who would like to improve staff morale in their respective units and explore ideas for creating a working environment for staff that encourages mutual respect and self-motivation. Participants will learn skills to identify what makes work worthwhile for individual employees, how to effectively address employee needs and how to develop a philosophy, objectives, and strategies for creating and maintaining a rewarding workplace. This course will define and discuss both large and small issues that affect staff morale in areas including: • Compensation • Relationships between staff and faculty • Professional development • Physical environment • Work-life balance Recent participants say: “That was an Amazing training one of the best I have attended here at UC San Diego.” “I liked the ‘lecturette’ style—presenting information for 5–10 minutes and then went more into discussion of the topics covered.
