Oct 28, 2019–Oct 28, 2019 from 9:00am–10:30am
Thurgood Marshall College and The Teaching and Learning Commons have the honor to present a talk with alumni and visiting scholar Dr. Iris D. Ruiz. This talk titled Decolonizing Pedagogical Praxis within Composition and Literacy Studies, seeks to explore various decolonial options now being considered in various colleges, universities and academic disciplines. The discussion will provide an analysis of these options for Hispanic Serving Institutions, and consider implications for current Composition and Rhetoric research and scholarly trends. Additionally, the talk will offer an opportunity for attendees to reconsider their pedagogical praxis if they have not yet familiarized themselves with what it means to “decolonize your syllabus” within the twenty-first century while teaching in the most diverse border state of the United States: California. This intriguing and invigorating discussion will take place Monday, October 28th from 9:00am – 10:30am.
