From Data to Care: Advancing Health Equity for Asian and Pacific Islander Communities Website View SpeakersIn honor of Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month, join us for a dynamic panel featuring Dr. Maria Rosario (Happy) G. Araneta, Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health, Division of Epidemiology, and Dr. Ed Junkins, Executive Director of Student Health and Well-Being. This conversation will highlight the power of unity in addressing API health inequities and advancing social determinants of health through collaboration, advocacy, and community-centered action. Together, they will explore how collective efforts can strengthen and uplift API communities. Dr. Araneta will also share her research on Type 2 Diabetes Among Asian Americans to raise awareness about novel risk factors and their implications for early diagnosis, disease mechanisms, and uniquely tailored prevention and management strategies to help eliminate this complex health disparity.
Lunch will be provided. This event is open to all UC San Diego staff, faculty, and students.
Co-sponsored by UC San Diego Student Health and Well-Being and Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern Desi American programs and services (APIMEDA).
