GEH Brown Bag: Review of Sexual and Reproductive Health Inequities faced by Im/migrant Women

Stefanie Machado is a current Master’s of Public Health student at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, focusing on global health and the sexual health and wellbeing of im/migrant populations. She has spoken about her experience in the fields of sexual health and health promotion at several Canadian conferences, providing future directions for addressing the needs of marginalized populations, particularly young immigrants. Currently, Stefanie is completing an internship with the Gender and Sexual Health Initiative of the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS under the supervision of Drs. Goldenberg and Servin, where is she is conducting a scoping review of gender-based sexual and reproductive health inequities faced by im/migrant women globally. She is also supporting the development and implementation of a community engagement project to explore and understand the sexual and reproductive health needs, concerns and realities of immigrant and refugee women in Metro Vancouver.
