Transducing Creative Practices: Collaboration Across Sonic Knowledges
For the past several years, my scholarship, creative practice, and lived experience have become entangled through a series of collaborative projects that have coalesced in academic publications. This has come after a long process of reflection regarding my personal and musical upbringing in Colombia, my unorthodox scholarly training in the US, and the realities of academic labor. In this talk, I center some of these collaborations to explore the enrichening and reparative relations afforded by thinking, listening, and writing with others. Whether mobilizing my embodied drummerly knowledge or tapping into familiar aural spaces, these projects have enriched my scholarship, afforded human relations that strive for reciprocity, and created safe spaces to navigate academia.
