Little could anybody have guessed just how much the book would impact the U.S. the research on Japan, as well as reshape Japan’s own aspirations. The catchy title and direct U.S.-Japan comparison opened a new discourse across many academic disciplines and also in the practice of business and management. Join us as we review and celebrate Ezra Vogel’s lasting impact on the field of Japan business, economics and beyond, with a look back at the development of U.S.-Japan relations since the 1970s, as well as Vogel’s important work on China and his 2019 book “Japan-China: Facing History”.
