UC San Diego celebrates its linguistically and multiculturally diverse community with the message 'I respect and value your language and culture'. Over a hundred UC San Diego students, faculty and staff voices will be heard saying this message through the Talking Trees in over forty different languages. During the celebration, participants will hear about the history of this internationally celebrated day proclaimed by UNESCO and will be able to submit their own language recording that will be displayed here https://sites.google.com/view/imld2020/home. Students will be recognized for their contributions during the event, whose purpose is to safeguard linguistic diversity and promote multilingualism.
