Get started documenting the biodiversity all around you with this introduction to the iNaturalist platform. Learn how to take high-quality photographs that can serve as an enduring record of the species you encounter, and discover how scientists use the data to study ecological patterns. The first 30 minutes of this event will take place indoors using computers to explore the iNaturalist database. The remaining 30 minutes will be used to practice collecting observations outdoors. This event prepares participants to contribute to the City Nature Challenge, a collaborative effort to observe as many species as possible from April 24th - 27th.

This event is open to all, although UC San Diego login is required to use library computers. Visitors may follow along on their own devices if desired.
