Japan has become a leading player in economic security policymaking and is implementing new industrial policy measures, such as reshoring of semiconductor production. While the world seems to be moving toward de-risking, when we take the business view and analyze global supply chain dependencies in more detail, where is the optimal point? What, exactly, is Japan’s position in some of the critical product supply chains, and what are Japanese companies and the government doing about reducing dependencies on others?
