Kosuke Matsuda’s Third DMA Recital
Kosuke Matsuda presents his Contemporary Percussion Recital, an exploration of Japanese-inspired music and the profound role of silence in musical expression. The program features Ryoanji by John Cage, performed in collaboration with Anita Chandavarkar, Six Japanese Gardens by Kaija Saariaho, Five Scenes from the Snow Country by Hans Werner Henze, and XY by Michael Gordon.
With gratitude to the UC San Diego Music Department, his colleagues, Professor Steven Schick, and his family, Matsuda concludes his degree recital with a selection of challenging yet evocative works, showcasing his research into the aesthetic and transformative impact of silence in music.
