Apr 21, 2025–Apr 23, 2025 from 1:00pm–8:00pm
MitchFest 2025 revolves around two sets of events. The first being a Sound installation titled Shifting Textures that is a series of "wind chimes" lining the Conrad Prebys Music Center - Experimental Theater. These are arrayed in a gradual shift of sonic qualities making chimes on opposite ends of the room vastly different, while still being similar to the neighboring instruments. This sound installation is periodically broken by 2 life performance events each day, at 3 PM & 7 PM. While Shifting Textures is intended to create a space where participants can move through the chimes at their own pace and find minute subtleties between each set, the concerts are intended to present intentionally crafted music that highlights subtleties as imagined by a composer and performer. It is the hope that the sound installation prepares an audience to find small distinctions in the musical works that may have gone otherwise unnoticed, as well as to contrast the different experiences between slow sonic exploration and a crafted work of music.
