In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, help make a positive impact in our local San Diego community by volunteering to complete some hands-on projects at Mission Bay High School (MBHS) on the morning of Saturday, January 18^th, 2020. Our UC San Diego community will join with the MBHS community various projects that will include gardening projects, painting projects, campus beautification projects, and various small projects to improve the campus and student life. As one of two International Baccalaureate (IB) high schools in the San Diego Unified School District, MBHS serves a diverse student population with incredibly dedicated teachers and staff. As a magnet school and a Federal Title I institution, MBHS serves high school students from all over the San Diego area. UC San Diego students currently volunteer at MBHS through the Education Corps program to serve students involved in a robust after-school tutoring program. UC San Diego is proud to partner with MBHS to improve the educational experience for their students. Transportation to and from campus will be available for a limited number of UC San Diego community members. Schedule for January 18^th, 2020: 8:15am - Check-in (for those needing transportation) at Triton Tour Center in Town Square (Myers Drive & Rupertus Way) 8:30am - Leave UC San Diego for Mission Bay High School 9:00am - Arrive at Mission Bay High School; complete registration and waivers; t-shirts & light breakfast 9:45am - Welcome and opening remarks 10:00am - Begin service 12:00pm - Service projects end, lunch, & reflection 12:30pm - Closing remarks & thank you & dismissal 1:00pm – Buses depart from Mission Bay High School back to UC San Diego Registration for this event will open on January 6^th, 2020 at 8:00am.
