"Compositional Collaborations" presented by Art of Elan and the UCSD Dept of Music
Sponsored by the Eric L. Lasley Music Student Composition Fund.
Mus 33A is the first course in a three-part introductory sequence. It is designed for both music majors and non-music majors with a musical background.
The course offers practical, hands-on experience in composition, aimed at enhancing students' skills as composers while introducing them to a diverse range of compositional practices. These practices will connect not only to historical traditions but also to modern music. Topics covered include notation, instrumentation, orchestration, and 20th-century music literature.
This quarter, students are writing three solo pieces for flute, cello, and trombone, each of which is being read by members of the ensemble Art of Elan. Students will then select one of their pieces to be performed by members of Art of Elan during the final concert on 12/12.

Alex Greenbaum, Cello
Rose Lombardo, Flute
Eric Starr, Trombone
