Nazanin Shahrokni is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. She is currently an Academy Scholar at the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies, where she is completing her book manuscript tentatively titled The Dividing Lines: The State and Politics of Gender Segregation in Iran. During 2014-2015, Nazanin served as the Mary Fox Whittlesey Chair and Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology at the American University of Beirut. Her publications appear in the Journal of Contemporary Ethnography, The Journal of Middle East Women's Studies, and Current Sociology. Nazanin is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Middle East Women's Studies, and Middle East Report. She also serves as a Board Member for the International Sociological Association, Research Committee on Women in Society.
