Katherine Agard is an interdisciplinary artist and writer. She utilizes the tools of ethnography, durational performance and painting to interrogate color and colorism as they are experienced in particular spaces—specifically within the Caribbean and African diaspora; as well as the educational spaces she has passed through on her journey to the MFA in Writing at UC San Diego. She also holds AB in Visual and Environmental Studies with Social Anthropology from Harvard College. She has received fellowships from the Callaloo Writer’s Workshop, Kimbilio and Lambda Literary. of color is an exhibition of text, painting in process and performance work while done in residence at the Department of Visual Arts.
