Jul 20, 2016–Jul 20, 2016 from 5:30pm–7:00pm
Deborah Kado, MD, MS is a board-certified internist with extensive clinical and research expertise in osteoporosis and geriatric medicine. She is Professor of Medicine, Deputy Director of Clinical Research & Education of the Stein Institute for Research on Aging, and is the Clinical Director of UC San Diego’s Osteoporosis Clinic. Some of the questions that Dr. Kado will endeavor to answer during this talk include: How can we optimize bone health and minimize the risk of fractures as we age? What preventive measures can patients take and what is the latest regarding new emerging osteoporosis treatments? How do Geriatricians balance the need for preventive measures with potential side effects? Additionally, Dr. Kado will exemplify the “whole person perspective” for evaluating and treating patients. This approach involves considering a patient’s environment, health status, existing chronic disease, other osteoporosis risk factors, and individual goals of care, when evaluating a patient and developing their treatment plan.
