The Hungry Octopus and the Endangered Abalone
Jennifer Hofmeister, Scripps Institution of Oceanography Octopuses are one of the most common and important predators along the coast of Southern California. These intelligent hunters prey on a wide range of species, including endangered Abalone. To help Abalone recover, Scripps Oceanographers must first understand the complexities of Octopus behavior.
