Perspectives Lecture: The Insider’s Guide to the R/V Sally Ride

Bruce Applegate, Associate Director of Scripps, Head of Ship Operations Scripps Oceanography welcomes America’s newest oceanographic research vessel: R/V Sally Ride. The ship features the most advanced oceanographic research tools available, and is named in honor of famed NASA astronaut, science advocate, and UC San Diego Professor, Sally Ride. Gain an insider’s look at the what it takes to design, build, and run one of the most important tools modern day explorers will use to understand and protect the planet. Lecture: 7—8 p.m. Doors: 6:30 p.m. Services available for the deaf or hard of hearing. For additional lectures, check our upcoming Ocean Author Presentations. Perspectives lectures are recorded monthly and can be viewed online through the UCSD-TV website. To date, these 130+ videos have been viewed more than 10 million times.
