The communication process involves a sender, receiver, message, and channel. However, this simplistic description significantly under-represents what is actually a very complex process. This workshop is designed to build competence in foundational communication skills through practice and reflection on practice.Topics Covered:
Understand the key elements of any communication
Discover the importance of body language, word choice and tone of voice in any communication
Learn and practice a model for making a request
Learn and practice a model for providing constructive feedback
Learn and practice a model for providing positive reinforcement
Learn and practice a model for “high stakes” communications
Learn and practice a model for communication during conflict
To Register:
Login to the UC Learning Center by going to https://uclearning.ucsd.edu, or through the Personal Tools menu on Blink, using your Single Sign-On
Click the FIND A COURSE button, and type the workshop title or keyword in the search box, then click the Enter button
Using the Select button to the right of the activity name, click REGISTER in order to see the available date(s)
Click within the white area of your preferred time block so that the block is outlined in green, then click NEXT
Click SUBMIT to finalize your registration
