Sep 25, 2017–Sep 25, 2017 from 12:30pm–2:00pm
C. K. Gunsalus, J.D., Director of the National Center for Professional and Research Ethics (NCPRE), Professor Emerita of Business, and Research Professor at the Coordinated Sciences Laboratory. In recent years, concerns have increased about the reproducibility and integrity of research. Unfortunately, the focus of these concerns too often frames these issues as failures of individual researchers rather than recognizing the role of the system in which these researchers work. For this event, Dr. Gunsalus will highlight key factors that are the biggest threats to the integrity of our research enterprise and offer practical recommendations about how we can do better. C. K. Gunsalus work focuses on topics such as leadership development, ethics, research integrity, whistleblowing, and professionalism. She was a member of the United States Commission on Research Integrity and served for four years as chair of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Committee on Scientific Freedom and Responsibility. She is an elected Fellow of the AAAS and currently serves on the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Responsible Science.
