During this informative session, Dr. Litvan, an internationally recognized expert in movement disorders and Director of UC San Diego’s Movement Disorders Program, will discuss the latest advances in detection and treatment of Parkinsonian Disorders, including examples of her fascinating work. She will also provide practical advice for reducing the risk of developing these disorders. Dr. Litvan has conducted numerous research studies to glean a better understanding of the causes, symptoms, and extent of disability resulting from Parkinsonian Disorders and other movement disorders. Furthermore, Dr. Litvan’s work has focused on the development of neuroprotective treatments and appropriate treatments for symptoms of these diseases. Specifically, one of the key goals of her research has been to discover novel biologic interventions to slow or stop disease progression.
