May 22, 2025–May 22, 2025 from 5:00pm–6:00pm
Will China or the U.S. lead the way in the Fourth Industrial Revolution? To answer this question, leading thinkers and policymakers in both countries draw lessons from previous technology-driven power transitions that center the moment of innovation — the eureka moment that sparks astonishing technological feats.
In his new book, Jeffrey Ding offers a different explanation of how technological revolutions affect competition among great powers, especially the U.S.-China power balance, as well as the optimal strategies for the U.S. and China to pursue.
Speaker:
Jeff Ding, assistant professor of political science, George Washington University
Moderator:
Victor Shih, Director, 21st Century China Center; Professor and Ho Miu Lam Chair in China and Pacific Relations, UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy
