Science and Politics: A GPS Science Policy Fellows Roundtable Event

Science and Politics: A GPS Science Policy Fellows Roundtable Event

Should scientists try and influence policy? Should policymakers and elected officials be required to share their science platform during their campaigns? How can science really make the most impact on policy outcomes? Join us as we bring together scientists and policymakers to discuss these questions and more. Agenda:

  • 6 p.m. – Welcoming remarks and panel introduction
  • 6:15 p.m. – Panel followed by moderated Q&A
  • 7:15 p.m. – Program ends
Panelists: School’s 30th anniversary celebration, and co-hosted by Scripps Institution of Oceanography, this is the fifth roundtable discussion of the GPS Science Policy Fellows Program. With the goal of creating bridges within UC San Diego’s areas of excellence, this program pairs STEM Ph.D. students with GPS faculty members who guide them out of their technical comfort zones to explore the policy relevance and implications of their dissertation research.
