Mar 15, 2017–Mar 15, 2017 from 6:30pm–9:30pm
The event will explore the simple act of breathing and its connection with extra-ordinary states of consciousness, well-being and health. We are grateful for the support of UC San Diego Office of Innovation & Commercialization for supporting this event. Holotropic Breathwork™ is a powerful approach to self-exploration and healing that integrates insights from modern consciousness research, anthropology, various depth psychologies, transpersonal psychology, Eastern spiritual practices, and mystical traditions of the world. The name Holotropic means literally “moving toward wholeness” (from the Greek “holos”=whole and “trepein”=moving in the direction of something). Wim Hoff Method The Wim Hof Method is a method that combines specific breathing techniques, cold exposure and mind-set techniques, coupled with physical excercies. It has been developed over the sum of thirty years by Wim Hof, who has taught and developed these in nature. It’s a natural method to improve health and well-being by gaining control of some autonomic nervous system functions. Speakers: Veronica Muñoz Mendoza (Holotropic Breathwork Certified Facilitator) Veronica has facilitated more than 130 experiential Holotropic Breathwork sessions at 12 six-day training modules and 40 weekend experiential workshops, including 15 with Dr. Stanislav Grof, creator of this powerful transpersonal science. Kenan Azam (UC San Diego) Kenan is a technologist at UC San Diego and alchemist in training and has been working with various breath work modalities for sometime. He will summarize the recent studies done on the Wim Hoff breathing method and its impact on the autonomous nervous system, well being and altered states of consciousness.
