Feb 15, 2019–Feb 15, 2019 from 11:30am–12:30pm
NPR science correspondent Christopher Joyce will be visiting UC San Diego on Friday, February 15, and will host a seminar at the Scripps Seaside Forum at 11:30 a.m. The seminar will be open to all and will share info on working with the media. Christopher Joyce’s stories can be heard on all of NPR’s news programs, including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Weekend Edition. In this seminar, Christopher will share insights on how the news media works — how they find stories, how media decides what’s newsworthy, how they craft stories and what that means for the scientists they write about. He’ll also share samples of interviews with scientists, and discuss how NPR and the media in general are currently covering marine and climate science. Additional details are in the flyer attached here. Please RSVP here: https://goo.gl/forms/RkcTkMcoGHWKkwZt2.
