May 19, 2020–May 19, 2020 from 4:00pm–5:00pm
Registration is now open for Short Tales From the Mothership, an event hosted by the UC San Diego Library and inspired by the short postcard stories that sci-fi magazine editor George Hay encouraged in the 1970s. He dared such authors as Arthur C. Clarke, the namesake of UC San Diego’s Clarke Center, to write sci-fi stories that could easily fit onto a postcard. This event also takes inspiration from the iconic architecture of our Mothership here on campus, the Geisel Library building designed by famed architect William Pereira.
If you enjoy creative writing or hearing original short stories, you won’t want to miss this virtual sci-fi micro-fiction event. More than 27 science fiction or fantasy stories have been collected, each of which will either be read by the author or an actor.
This virtual event is free and open to the UC San Diego community and the public. Please contact Scott Paulson with any questions at spaulson@ucsd.edu.
