Join fellow alumni for a spring hike at the beautiful Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve in mountains high above Palo Alto! It is considered one of best places in the Bay Area to see spring wildflowers. Few spots can beat this ridge for views that take in the Peninsula from Bay to ocean. Russian Ridge is an outstanding habitat for wildlife, especially hawks and the occasional Golden Eagle.

We will hike a 3.7 mile loop, 550 feet elevation change, moderate difficulty. What to Bring:

  • Sack lunch
  • Water
  • Sun block
  • Wide brim hat & layered clothing
  • Good hiking shoes
  • Camera/binoculars Parking/Arrival

The parking lot is located on the northwest corner of Alpine road and Skyline drive and is free of charge. If the lot is full, you may find parking nearby on the shoulder of Alpine Road.

Meet in the parking lot at 9 am. We will start hiking on the Ridge Trail by 9:30 a.m. We will enjoy our lunches at the end of the hike at the nearby lakeside nature center picnic area.
