The San Diego Chapter of Fulbright Association and UC San Diego’s Division of Global Education host a Webinar Panel Discussion on Electing the President - The Electoral College Vote and the National Popular Vote on October 14, 2020 at 6:00-7:30 PM. This topic evokes a good deal of discussion and the panel will provide us with information that will help clarify and perhaps raise questions about our current system being used to elect our national President.
Panelists are Derek Cressman, a California-based political reform advocate, author and former Candidate for CA Secretary of State; Mary Thompson, Chair of the “Civil Engagement Committee” of the North County San Diego League of Women Voters (LWV), she also researches and writes for the LWV (CA) on the Pros and Cons of voter education material; Miranda McGowan, a Professor of Law at University of San Diego, School of Law, she teaches Constitutional Law, Employment Discrimination, and Torts and researches in the areas of Constitutional Law and racial and gender equality; and Jeanne Brown, also on the Board of LWV, areas of expertise are “fair elections”, “money in politics”, and “redistricting’.
