UC San Diego’s 2020 Information Practices Conference

The Modern Office—Perspectives on Information Management This conference is designed to show how departments all across campus interact with the information and records the campus works with on a daily basis. Campus Counsel will discuss why we create records and what our responsibilities are once we do. The Chief Information Security Officer will discuss electronic access and security, as well as the interplay of how software and information interact. The Privacy Office will discuss the concepts we must all consider when handling information and data. Policy & Records Administration will discuss the public’s right to access, and the University’s obligations under the California Public Records Act and California Information Practices Act. UCOP’s Records Manager will discuss information management best practices, including how we keep information and when can we destroy information. Finally, the University Archivist will talk about how to identify and preserve those few records that are of enduring historical value. Lunch and light refreshments to be served.
