UC San Diego Helen Edison Lecture Series & SD Union-Tribune Festival of Books present Roger McNamee

UC San Diego Helen Edison Lecture Series and The San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books present a FREE public lecture on ZUCKED: Waking up to the Facebook Catastrophe with ROGER MCNAMEE on February 20 at 7:00 PM. Join Jeff Light, publisher and editor of The San Diego Union-Tribune, for a conversation with noted tech venture capitalist, Roger McNamee, an early mentor to Mark Zuckerberg and investor in his company, who woke up to the serious damage Facebook was doing to our society and set out to try to stop it. ABOUT ROGER MCNAMEE Few things made him prouder, or had been better for his fund’s bottom line, than his early service to Mark Zuckerberg. But McNamee found he could no longer sit quietly watching the head of one of the world’s most powerful companies fail to address the damage it is doing, and that failure’s catastrophic results. ZUCKED tells a larger tale of a business sector unmoored from normal constraints at a moment of political and cultural crisis, the worst possible time to be given new tools for summoning the darker angels of our nature and whipping them into a frenzy. The first 100 ticketed attendees to check in will receive a free copy of McNamee’s book, ZUCKED (one per household). TICKETS AND INFORMATION helenedison.ucsd.edu
