Martin Kampmann, PhD, will present "Uncovering Mechanisms of Brain Disease by CRISPR Screens in iPSC Models" on November 14, 2024, at Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine.
Brief Bio
Dr. Kampmann is an Associate Professor in the UCSF Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics. He received his BA in Biochemistry from Cambridge University and his PhD from Rockefeller University.
Dr. Kampmann co-invented CRISPRi and CRISPRa screening and pioneered CRISPR-based screens in human brain cell types such as neurons, microglia and astrocytes. His lab uncovers mechanisms and therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases.
He was named an NIH Director’s New Innovator, an Allen Distinguished Investigator, an Alzheimer Association Zenith fellow, and he received the Rainwater Prize for Innovative Early Career Scientist and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Ben Barres Early Career Acceleration Award.
