We Are Gonna Win: Organizing Against the Censorship Crisis

We Are Gonna Win: Organizing Against the Censorship Crisis

Since 2021, the American Library Association has documented an unprecedented and alarming rise of organized challenges to library materials and programs. In states from Florida to Texas to Missouri to Idaho, legislatures have enshrined censorship into state law, undermining the authority and autonomy of library workers along the way.

Join Emily Drabinski for a discussion of the current state of the struggle and the strategies that have worked to return books to shelves, even under the most dire of conditions. Drabinski is Associate Professor at the Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Studies in New York City and immediate past president of the American Library Association.

This event — presented by the Library’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee — is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
