South Korea’s fertility rate is among the lowest in the world, with a total fertility rate of less than 1 birth per woman. In this talk, we study how women's work and family outcomes have changed across birth cohorts and discuss why women in South Korea seem to be increasingly forgoing "family."
Jisoo Hwang is an Associate Professor of Economics at the College of Liberal Studies, Seoul National University. She is an applied microeconomist, with research interests in labor and family economics. She received her B.A. in Economics at Seoul National University in 2008 and her Ph.D. in Economics at Harvard University in 2013. Website: www.jisoohwang.com
